Abstract

Since the discovery of ferroelectricity, the most widely investigated, used and available
material is lead zirconate titanate (PZT). This communication provides a review on the work
being done on PZT, its present status in the world of materials science and its future
excogitation. The classification of modification has been done on the basis of literature
survey till date. This review also includes the present status of PZT in the technology of

photovoltaics. The effect of variation of zirconium and titanium ratios along with A and B-
site modifications have also been discussed. The recommendations for future work on PZT

based on this review have been done.
