Design of reliable electronic door lock system on PCB using Ki-CAD
Abstract
This paper deals with the design of a PCB based electronic door lock system. An electronic
door locking system is one which uses passwords, RFID tags and readers, fingerprints, etc.
instead of the traditional key system. In my project, I made use of a numeric cipher to unlock
a door. The door can be unlocked only by the people who are aware of the code. This
increases the security and safety by preventing unauthorized unlocking of the door, and it is
cost effective too. The main components used in the circuit are dual JK flip-flops, IC
regulators 7812 and 7805, IC timer 555 and a few other components for power supply and a
motor for opening and closing of the door. Also, the identification code can be altered by
making a few adjustments in the connections only. The system has a 4×5 numeric keypad on
which one can type the code. When it matches with the predefined password, the door will get
unlocked. To lock the door again one must press switch S5. I have developed this PCB system
using the kiCad software.
