Using an Embedded System for Accurately Diagnosis of Bone Tumors and of Selection of the Best Treatment in Real Time

Abstract


An embedded system is the use of a combination of a programmable device and software to operate that device in order to perform a specific desired operation. The article presents a developed embedded system that combines an IR spectrophotometer and a programmable logic controller (PLC), controlled
by a specially developed "Spectrum" program for accurately diagnosis of bone tumors and of selection of the optimal treatment for the detected disease in real time. The developed system permits to establish an accurate diagnosis of a tumor among oncological patient automatically, in real time. The essence
of the system operation is to make an accurate diagnosis by transmitting an analog signal from an IR spectrophotometer to an analog-to-digital converter of a programmable logic controller in the form of digital data, which, using a specially developed computer program "Spectrum", loads into its RAM, processes this data and sets accurate diagnosis and displays the results of diagnosis, as well as recommendations for choosing of the best method of the treating of established disease on the controlle screen in real time.
