Abstract

With the increasing pollution due to combustion engines used in regular vehicles the trend of electric vehicles has become quite popular these days. Electric Vehicles are being preferred over the general vehicles because of their better fuel efficiency, lower costs, low pollution. Thus, giving better advantages over general fully petrol / diesel based vehicle. The rapid growth in electric vehicle has alarmed us to understand the benefits and trade–offs of the new technologies being invented on which the vehicles are based for the development and improved life cycle of the electric vehicles. Thus, the concept of feedback loop in mentioned. There are different aspects that needs to be taken care of to meet the requirements of target market vs. development cost i.e. to manage the complexity of solutions and there costs by the manufacturers are mentioned. The different electric motors AC or DC are given through which the batteries are fed. And different drives AC or DC based on supply are also given in this paper. The wireless power transfer technology like Inductive Coupling to reduce the problem caused by the batteries due to heavy size, long charging time, and shorter driving range is also summarized. Some of the technologies like Hybrid Electric Vehicle, Series hybrid, parallel hybrid, and Integrated Starter Generator (ISG) based system are also discussed in this paper.
