Transmission and Conversion Power Supply Installation in Indian Railway

Abstract


The supply to the Over Head system (OHE) from TSS is fed thru interrupters positioned at
Feeding publish (FP). Adjacent TSS normally elements energy to the OHE on one of a kind
phases to reduce unbalance inside the deliver authority grid. To avoid the pantograph of a
locomotive or electric powered more than one unit bridging the supply from one of a kind
phases, while it passes from one quarter to another, an impartial phase is supplied to
separate the OHEs fed from exceptional levels 5 kV, ac, 50 Hz, single phase electric traction
system has been adopted for the electric traction. Traction power is obtained from utilities at
220/132/110/66 kV at Traction Sub Stations (TSS) and stepped down to 25 kV. Adjacent TSSs
are spaced at a distance of 40 to 80 km.
