HARNESSING RAINDROP ENERGY

K MADHUMATHI, K. SANGEETHA

Abstract

The piezoelectric materials can be used to convert kinetic energy of raindrops can be converted into electricity. This paper describes conduct of raindrops at impact and of piezoelectricity. It has been found that Polyvinylidene Fluoride called PVDF is the most suitable type of material for power harvesting application. Raindrops of 1 to 5 mm diameter are suitable for harnessing energy.so it can be used as an alternative to the solar energy during the winter seasons.
