Wireless Sensor Networks-Based Intelligent Transportation System

Mitu Chhillar, Sumit Sangwan

Abstract

Rising private vehicles in urban areas resulting more traffic and pollution in cities which requires an intelligent transportation system based on wireless sensor networks. Intelligent transportation systems (ITS) plays an important role in management of traffic. Wireless sensor networks is an emergent technology with an effective potential to overcome these difficulties and improves ITS. We will discuss their architectural and engineering challenges. The description of sensor node designed for sensing intensity of magnetic field and acceleration and advanced communications and computing technologies into the in-vehicle and road side traffic transportation infrastructure is provided in this paper.
