Abstract

The internet of Things (IoT) is in a position to attach billions of devices and services at any time in anywhere, with various applications. Recently, the IoT became an emerging technology. A metropolitan city has over a million of cars on its roads but it does not have enough parking space or it is difficult to seek out a parking lot. However, this paper proposes a modern solution to such problems were the Ingenious Parking system takes the raw data from the sensors and shows it on the liquid crystal display board outside the parking lot and also reflects the same via different colored light emitting diodes. A mobile application is additionally given that allows an end user/drivers to check the availability of parking space and book a parking space according to their need. Ingenious car parking system can increase the economy by reducing fuel consumption and also reduces pollution in urban areas. Every car parking system has its unique features depending on shape, size and location of plot, traffic movement around the site, traffic management inside the car park, ECS (Equivalent Car Space) requirement & peak hour demand, quick retrieval & minimum queuing, safety & fast evacuation, minimum maintenance & availability of spares, high redundancy & quick servicing, and energy efficiency. Parking management system presented, consists of parking management software, access control system, revenue management, security system and statistical information. In short, a vehicle can be parked or retrieved inside a parking building through a token or a smart card or through smart phones and it does not involve any human interference. Moreover, it prevents any unauthorized person to enter the parking system.
