Hybrid Best Phase Selector

Abstract

The use of renewable resources like the solar energy and various other clean sources of energy has been on an increase in demand in the recent years due to their ease in availability and low cost. This project work is on the design and construction of automatic hybrid best phase selector and changeover switch for three-phase power supply. It provides a means of switching from one-phase of AC mains to power generated by solar or wind energy in the case of low voltage or failure in the single-phase AC supply. The circuit also senses the restoration of any or all the three power source and changeover without any notice of power outage. This project has been improved on the existing types of electromechanical device that has being in use over the years. This project demonstrates how to use the solar energy and the kinetic energy from wind turbines. The solar panel is used to harness the solar power. It converts the solar power into voltage, which when more than the voltage in the battery is able to charge the battery. The power available through the solar panel is sensed by an Atmega family microcontroller which it displays on the LCD. Similarly, the power generated through wind turbine is shown on the LCD. In this way one can change the phase automatically without interruption of electricity supply. The purpose of this project is to generate power from multiple sources and automatically switching phases in case of failure or fluctuating voltage. This project we are using two main sources to generate power. They are solar and wind energy source.
