Deploying Smart Street Lighting System for Reduction of Carbon Emissions

Akansha Mishra

Abstract

The main aspects associated with technology in use today are automation, electricity usage, and cost effectiveness. Automation uses clever systems to reduce the need for human labour. Since the supply of electricity is dwindling for a variety of reasons, power conservation is always a top priority. We are employing IoT devices to combat these effects because, as we are all aware, energy usage has been rising daily. In this project, a methodology for adjusting street light illumination using sensors while using the least amount of electrical energy is proposed. All nearby street lights turn on in their brightest mode when presence is detected; otherwise, they remain in their dim state. The use of LED lights is required because they outperform traditional incandescent lamps in every way. As a result, there will be a decrease in carbon dioxide emissions, power usage, maintenance and replacement expenses, and heat emissions. When used together, the SSSLS (Solar Smart Street Light System) is anticipated to save a sizable quantity of electricity. The internet of things has also been used to create a demonstration with a real-time prototyping model that includes costs and implementation procedures in order to visualise the real-time updates of street processing and notify the changes happening.
