PSO Tuned Fuzzy Logic Controller for Better Performance

Abstract


In the field of control engineering, the most important aspect is the designing of controller. Artificial intelligence plays an important in designing of controllers. The artificial intelligent controllers may replace the conventional controllers. In this paper we used an intelligent fuzzy logic controller which is tuned with the particle swarm optimization (PSO). The performance of this controller is compared with conventional one with an objective to have a good time response. From the simulation results obtained with example system(s) it is found that the responses with fuzzy logic controllers (FLC), when compared those obtained with proportional integral derivative (PID) controller, are superior in terms of rise time, settling time and percent overshoot.
