Bluetooth based Home Automation using Arduino and Android Application

Abstract


Innovation is an evolving issue. Being able to program a commodity using modern technology that will enhance the welfare of others is a great contribution to the society. This article presents the development of a moderate cost, durable, and secure smart home system linked to cell phones. The approach relies on a standalone Arduino BT board, and the home appliances are linked to the union's input/output ports via relays. This plan is intended to be conservative and consistent, allowing for the monitoring of a multitude of devices with minor changes to the system's core. Password protection is used to prevent access to household appliances to only authorised personnel. In this investigation, an aspect of smart home technique that utilizes Bluetooth in a smartphone is used, attempting to make it cost-effective and convenient to use. This article explains a home automation system that would use a mobile application with Wireless bluetooth technology to facilitate home illumination, automatic door motor, and water pumping motor and smoke detection. The system consisted of three major components: an Arduino microcontroller for connecting the appliances, a Bluetooth module for signal transfer, and a smartphone with the Android app for controlling home appliances.
