Abstract

This paper introduces an affordable and adaptable home control and environmental monitoring framework. It utilizes an embedded micro-web server within an Arduino Mega 2560 microcontroller, enabling IP connectivity to remotely access and manage devices and appliances. Control is facilitated through either a web application or a Bluetooth-enabled Android smartphone app. The system's functionality is demonstrated by integrating devices like light switches into the proposed home control setup. With technological advancements, homes are evolving into smarter environments, transitioning from traditional switches to centralized control systems with remote capabilities. This shift is particularly beneficial for individuals facing mobility challenges, such as the elderly or those with physical disabilities, who may find it difficult to access conventional wall switches distributed throughout the house. The implementation of remote-controlled home automation, facilitated by smartphone applications, offers a contemporary solution. In order to regulate connected loads, this entails pairing a Bluetooth module with the Arduino board at the receiving end, while a smartphone application's GUI sends ON/OFF commands to the receiver. Through simple interactions with the GUI, users can remotely operate and manage loads, enhancing convenience and accessibility.
