Abstract

In the modern launching technology, emphasis has been increasingly focused on the fundamental parameters like velocity, precision control, efficiency and flexibility of the launch projectile. Electromagnetic launchers (EMLs) can significantly satisfy most of the above aspects and can be predecessor for the previous launching mechanisms. EMLs become an alternative to the cartridge launching, thereby avoiding the limitations associated with it. This article presents the modelling and analysis of a multistage electromagnetic tubular launcher. A mathematical model of a multistage coil launcher is developed to analyse the inductance profile and propulsive forces. Keywords: coil launcher, inductance profile and modelling, launching systems
