A Review on Two-Area Hydro-thermal Power System

Abstract

In a two-area system, there will be one automatic load frequency control (ALFC) loop for each control area. Practical aspects considered in this system are reheat turbine in thermal power plant and mechanical governor in hydro-power plant. Reheat turbine improves the efficiency of the system as it again utilizes the steam coming out from high pressure turbine (HP) to run the intermediate pressure (IP) turbine and low pressure (LP) turbine.
