Abstract

ABSTRACT
Encrypted negative password (ENP) system uses the method where the passwords are first shredded then transferred to negative password and finally coded and stored within the authentication archive. Pre-computation attacks (e.g., Rainbow table and Lookup table attacks) are unavoidable since processor and storage resources are being plenteous. Only hashing is not enough. The encrypted negative password system still can resist the pre-computation attacks. Thus, by securing the sheets with negative password system, these liabilities are decreased. This paper presents comparative study on ENP and AuthStore. ENP may avoid lookup table attack and gives stronger password security against dictionary attack. This is clearly seen by complexity analysis. ENP eliminates salting with negative database of hashed passwords. It’s a password protection scheme that integrates the cryptographic hashing, negative password and symmetric-key encryption, without additional characters. The AuthStore permits reusability of password for secure data encryption by multiple service providers.
