Service and Maintenance (S&M): Challenges, Issues and Concerns in Electrical and Electronics Industry

Abstract

The purpose of this short note is to present the service and maintenance aspects, issues, concerns and challenges by reviewing the present literature, providing insights and procedures leading to the strategies of business models. The fundamentals of service and maintenance (S&M) in the electrical and electronics industries have been identified and highlighted with modern techniques and systems incorporating the “smart sensors”, life extension programmes for equipment and instruments. The impact of the outsourcing model using virtual reality, augmented reality and predictive maintenance concepts and developments has been briefly identified for future basis for S&M programmes.
