Abstract

In this paper, a study is carried out to investigate the total harmonic distortion (THD) of various voltage control signal techniques for single-phase pulse width modulation (PWM) inverter. The inverter is implemented using three PWM techniques—unipolar PWM, modified sine PWM and harmonic injection modulation. The performance of these control schemes are evaluated through simulation in MATLAB/SIMULINK. The obtained THD and fundamental magnitude of the output AC are tabulated (Table 1). Keywords: single-phase inverter, pulse width modulation, harmonic injection modulation, total harmonic distortion (THD), modified sine PWM
