Abstract

The Internet has now become a need for living in today’s world. Most people are now dependent on the internet. Some people use the internet for their business and professional works, while some use it for entertainment purposes. It can be noticed that the use of the internet is high during office hours.Hence, traffic demand is highduring thistime. So, the work which requires immediate service at that time may get delayed. Therefore, along with the consideration of the number of Frequency Slot (FS)and pathlength, we have prioritized the internet demand into three types of Class of Service (CoS) ordered as CoS1>CoS2>CoS3. In which higher priority services will be served first than lower CoS requests. In this paper, for Routing and Spectrum Allocation (RSA), we have proposed a Cost Function with Different Weight based CoSProvisioning (CFDWCoSP) strategy in which the requestsare served based onthe ascending value of the cost function. This function is calculated by three network parameters i.e., CoS, FS, and pathlength along with their respective weights. For analyzing the performance of the proposed strategy, simulation is performed on MATLAB and the results are evaluated on the metric of Connection Request Accepted (CRA), Resource Utilization Ratio (RUR), and Bandwidth Blocking Probability (BBP). Simulation results significantly improved the performance and verify the proposal of the proposed strategy as compared to the existing strategies.
