Abstract

ABSTRACT

Underwater Images (UI) suffers of poor visibility due primarily to properties of dispersion and absorption. Many methods have been used to restore and enhance the functionality of damaged UIs. A new approach for underwater image enhancement (UIE) is a single image solution without the need for advanced equipment or information about underwater environments or scene structure. The color compensated and white balanced (WB) version of the unique picture as inputs as well as its corresponding weight maps undergoes a technique of multi-scale fusion (MSF).While enhanced images are distinguished by better dark regions illumination, improved global contrast, and sharp edges. However, Naturalness Preserved Image Enhancement Using a priori Multi-Layer Lightness statistics (NPIE-MILL) is important for image enhancement (IE) in order to achieve good perceptual value. In this paper we have used NPIE MILLS to improve the contrast of image.
