Design and Simulation of Microstrip Patch Antenna Using HFSS Software

Abstract


Recently, the study of microstrip patch antennas has made a great progress. If compared with conventional antennas, microstrip patch antennas have more advantages and better prospects as they are lighter in weight, low profile, low volume, low cost, smaller in dimension, and ease of fabrication and conformity. HFSS, which stands for high-frequency structure simulator, is used to simulate the proposed design. The design involves finding the width and length for a wide micro-strip rectangular type and suitable thickness and is simulated using different feed techniques. Electromagnetic band-gap structures are 3-D periodic objects that prevent propagation of electromagnetic waves in a particular band of frequency for all angles of arrival and in all polarization states. Thus, different structures are also obtained for different frequencies
