Design a Compact Microstrip Patch Antenna on a Center Frequency of GSM Band with DGS for Gain Enhancement

Abstract


In this paper, a compact dual band microstrip patch antenna has been designed on a center frequency of GSM band (800–900 MHz) and (1800–1900 MHz) using the DGS technique. The resonating frequency of this antenna 0.845 and 1.850 GHz, the proposed antenna is designed on an FR4 lossy substrate with dielectric constant 4.3, thickness 1.6 mm and loss tangent 0.02. The main objective of this paper is to increase the gain on GSM band using the DGS technique. The gain is 5 dB on 0.845 GHz and 19 dB on 1.850 GHz GSM band. The return loss of this antenna is S11<–27.4 dB and S11<–28.26 dB on GSM band. The plots of return loss with and without DGS are given in detail.
