kotb basem, D. Sami, E.E. EL-Kholy

Abstract

this paper introduces a simulation and modeling for five phase induction motor by using MATLAB/ Simulink package. The medium to high power drives application has a great improvement after introducing multiphase motor drives. The multiphase induction motor, with phase number greater than three phase, find application in special and critical area where high reliability is demanded such as in high power application, locomotive traction, Hybrid Electric vehicles and aerospace application. In this paper the reference frame theory is used for simulation the five phase induction motor. Dynamic model is carried out to study the behavior of the induction motor in both steady state and transient state. Finally the simulation results for the multiphase induction motor are displayed.
