Wireless Sensor Network for Air Pollution Monitoring using Zigbee

Ajay Chaturvedi, Laxmi Shrivastava

Abstract

The environment plays an important role to maintain a good health of not only society but industry also. Various parameters affect the environment directly and indirectly and so the human beings. Air pollution, fire detection, leakage detection, health monitoring etc are some of the application where the wireless sensors network is being used as real time monitoring and controlling station. Air contains a lot of gases, which are not safe for the human beings. Hence an air pollution motoring wireless sensor network is very much essential which can detect and alarm the level of air pollution if it exceeds the limits. This paper presents the work carried out for the development of wireless sensor network which is able to continuously monitor the environment for various parameters such as temperature, humidity and CO2 level. An ideal air pollution monitoring system should be accurate, reliable, and cost effective which can be handled easily. Zigbee module is used as wireless communication protocol standard. The hardware is designed and results are shown on computer.
