Design & Development of SMS Reception & Transmission Unit for Generators used at Base Stations

Himanshu Monga

Abstract

The phenomenal development of mobile service over the first two decades has insure that almost every place on the civilize world is now covered with this service. This gigantic leap in communication technology has resulted in many new applications of remote control and monitoring through short message service (SMS). The generators used at the base station are usually self starting type. Monitoring and controlling this generator, especially when the tower placed at remote location is difficult. In this paper, it is proposed to monitor and control through generator placed at the base station of a mobile phone service provider using sms from remote location the generators has switches indicating the station of On/ Off Position, Overload, Overheating, Fuel reverse. Also, it is proposed to monitor these switches through sms from a GPS module connected to a microcontroller the switch data is read and interpreted by the microcontroller and send to a remote operator/ supervisor through SMS.
