Using Hybrid Method of PSO and Firefly Techniques for ELD

Abstract

This project presented an effective and reliable FFA technique for the economic load dispatch (ELD) problem using the PSO technique. The final results obtained that is, Hybrid algorithm (using PSO and Firefly algorithm) are compared with PSO and Firefly and found to be encouraging. This Hybrid algorithm is applied to find out the minimum cost for different power demands. With the compared results, we obtain that Hybrid algorithm displayed better result and better convergence characteristic. The numerical results show that the proposed method has better convergence and also lower production costs than the PSO and Firefly methods. The project presented the overview of different methods for solving the ELD problem using MATLAB. The simulation results show that the proposed Hybrid method gives out better output than the other optimization methods.
