Abstract

In this paper, a method for designing a two stage Complementary Metal oxide semiconductor (CMOS) operational amplifier using 180 nm technology is suggested. CMOS technology is used in digital logic circuits, microprocessors and to construct integrated circuits. CMOS has almost no static power dissipation. This technology offers high, symmetrical noise margins, high input and low output impedance. An operational amplifier is a DC coupled amplifier which offers high gain and high input impedance. It has a differential input and single ended output. It is especially used in circuits for performing mathematical operations on an input voltage. Various parameters such as open loop gain, phase margin, gain bandwidth product and slew rate are analyzed.

Keywords: Differential amplifier, common source amplifier, operational amplifier
