Quality Plan for a Construction Project

Vijender Kumar Begari

Abstract

“Project quality management is an amalgamation of project management and quality management. Project management is defined as the application of knowledge, skills, tools and techniques to project activities to meet the project requirements. Also, quality management defines as the processes and activities that determine quality policies, objectives and responsibilities so that the project will satisfy the needs for which it was undertaken” [1]. “Quality in construction projects can be defined as a compliance with specification and client requirements”[2]. Since few decades ago, if we carefully observe the construction industry there were many quality issues which led to excess cost to our economy. But the improving concepts of quality assurance have led significant reduction in the cost. And also, the quality control techniques implementation will improve the factor of assurance in quality. PQP is a set of activities planned at the beginning of any project which guides the stakeholders in achieving the highest quality. Though PQP is a part of quality control technique, its implementation during the site inspection will yield greater results. The main purpose of implementing PQP is to provide the quality assurance to the client requirements.
For the quality assurance to be effective, two things must be ensured: first, PQP must be sufficient to achieve the required quality standards expected; Quality assurance should be independent of the project itself. The objective of this report is to give an insight on different set of activities which were planned at the start of any construction project.
