Design of an Automatic Wheel Chair

Abstract


In this paper, an automatic wheelchair is designed which is significant in case if anyone does not require a caretaker. Recent developments in robotics, artificial intelligence and sensor technology promise huge scope for advanced wheelchair development. To overcome the problems, it is necessary to design an automatic wheelchair cum bed with adequate features. The wheelchair cum bed for the automatic wheelchair consists of a wheelchair that can be converted into a full bed. Joystick, remote control, etc. can be used to control automatic wheelchair cum bed. A motorized wheelchair or electric wheelchair is a wheelchair driven by an electric motor rather than by manual power. The aim of this study is to analyze and prototype an automated wheelchair cum bed based on an existing smart wheelchair with extensive findings of facts and research on existing models, used technology, market scenario and customer needs. It improves elderly people’s balance and postural stability. It can easily convert the position of sleep from the sitting position.
